April 7th


Kilton Valley and Castle, Redcar & Cleveland, guided walk.

Meet at Loftus leisure centre at 10am. Leaders keith Ferry (Redcar & Cleveland BC) and Robin Daniels (Tees Arch). This is a long walk and could take upto 4 hours, bring a picnic. Contact Keith Ferry for further information.


May 12th - 23rd


Excavation in Stewart Park, Middlesbrough.

Excavation on site of the medieval village of West Marton, the birthplace of Capt Cook. Volunteers welcome, pre-booking required. Leader Rachel Grahame.
May 18th Open Day at Excavation in Stewart Park. All welcome.


June 2nd – 27th


Excavation at Catcote, Summerhill, Hartlepool.

Excavation on Iron Age and Romano-British Settlement. This is a training excavation, volunteers welcome, pre-booking required. Leader Robin Daniels.


July 6th


History day at Flatts Lane Visitor Centre, Middlesbrough.

Presentation on the archaeology of the Eston Hills, activities and a chance to meet a member of Tees Archaeology staff. All welcome. For further information contact Redcar & Cleveland Countryside Service.


July 6th

Hartlepool Headland History Day.

Finds and information about the history of the headland and a chance to meet a member of Tees Archaeology staff. For further information contact Hartlepool Headland Local History group.


August 1st – 6th


Saltburn Rutway Survey, Redcar & Cleveland.

Survey of 18-19 th century rock cut tracks in the foreshore. Volunteers welcome, pre-booking required. Leader Gary Green.

August 21st


Maritime Archaeology Day, Capt Cook Birthplace Museum, Middlesbrough.

A range of displays and activities on the theme of Maritime Archaeology. Leaders Capt Cook Birthplace Museum and Gary Green.
September

29th – 3rd October

Eston Hills project, Redcar & Cleveland.

A project to survey the archaeology of the Eston Hills, based at Flatts Lane Visitor Centre. Volunteers welcome, pre-booking required. Leader Peter Rowe.

October

6th – 17th

Preston Park and the Stockton & Darlington Railway, Stockton-on-Tees.

A project to survey the remains of the first public railway in the world in Preston Park. Volunteers welcome, pre-booking required. Leader Robin Daniels.

The Development of West Hartlepool Docks, Hartlepool, guided walk. A walk around the docks led by Peter Rowe.
