Overview of Hartlepool Headland

This is a view over Hartlepool Headland. As you can see, the center of the town is not dominated by a market place or a town hall but by St. Hilda's Church. The Church was very important and powerful in Medieval times, controlling many aspects of peoples' lives. The church being in the centre of the town shows how important it was to the people who lived there.
