Rockcliffe Beacon

Burial mound. Sub-circular barrow of earthern construction 1.7-9m high. Excavated 1913-14 and revealed a possible stone-lined cist and disturbed cremation and associated pottery. Several flint chippings and cupstones found too. A worked flint was also found in 1977. Barrow later re-used as the mound for a Medieval beacon.
