Yearby

July 1996. Estate two row village. The village is identified with Kirkleatham from 1086 and was later granted to Guisborough Priory. The village is laid out e-w with a now enclosed green and has well preserved property frontages. The village is laid out along Yearby road which is now a cul-de-sac. The e-w route must have marked a former roadway of greater importance than the n-s route to Guisborough Priory , and therefore suggests an early date for laying out the village. (ie: pre-priory)
