May 1976. Medieval. Large rectangular pond up to 1 m deep with two wildfowl islands, (terps). The southern exit from the pond leads to a long arm which has a right angle at its southern end forming another arm leading to the west. There is another right angle turn with the pond petering out. Possible sluice positions are indicated on the first arm. The eastern side of the main pond has a bank associated with it. This overlies ridge and furrow as does an enclosure further east. This suggests that some of the area was under plough when the fishponds were built. A distinct boundary ditch separates the pond from the ridge and furrow.
