Airey Hill Farm

January 1977.

Burial mound near farm situated c.150m from Rawcliff Bank Wood.

9.5m diameter & 0.6m high & forms a cap.

Excavated by Atkinson April 1864.

Made up of very hard material overlying a cremation burial.

Possibly a deliberate cist of burnt clay as in places up to 60cm overlay cremation (ref 1). Possible cupmarked stone found here.

However could refer to barrow 0151 (ref 2).

Altitude: 219m.
